How long does it take to master all the basic moves of figure skating?

I want to start figure skating and I'm 13. How long does it take to master all the basic moves of figure skating, and what are they? Also, how long does it take for a skater to be good, not EXTREMELY good, but you know, all the basic jumps and spins. =D|||They do say it's never too late to learn. If your goal is to make the National team, then you have started a little late on this, however, you don't need to be a national level skater to compete. Most competitions have categories for all levels of skaters.

Now in order to compete, you will need at least all of your single jumps and basic spins. If you have a natural talent for this, meaning things come easily to you, you train with a coach 2-3 days a week, and do off-ice training as well (strength, cardio and flexibility) you could conceivably master the basics in a year. If you have never been on the ice before you could add 3-6 months on to learn the very basics of skating.

Basic Jumps: waltz, salchow, toe loop, loop, flip, lutz, axel

Basic Spins: 1 foot or scratch, sit spin, camel spin, layback, flying camel, flying sit

Basic Turns: 3 turn, bracket, mohawk, counter, rocker

(all turns go in both directions, on both feet, and forwards and backwards)|||i have a friend who figure skates she has been skating since she was five. She is now 13 and jus t finishing learning all her doubles. In just a few weeks shes starting her triples. But its never to late to learn!

|||I am a skater. I'm in Freestyle 4-5 and I'll tell you, it probably takes a year or two with a private coach. IT GETS EXPENSIVE. Skates, fees, etc. I'm ten and I think ppl who are older have more control of their bodies. I can't do my axel but 13 yr olds can.|||Well, if you have never skated before it will take a while. Just learning to skate will ake you atleast 6 months. To learn all the jumps such as scratch spin, salchow and toe loop, I estimate it will take about 2-3 years.

You must work on your flexibility, I recommend dance, and you must skate atleast 2 times a week, get a private coach, and HAVE FUN!!

YOU CAN DO IT!|||To do all the basic spins and single jumps, it should take you about 2-3 years, depending on how hard you practice. And no it's not too late. I started skating at 11 and now I'm 15 and can do all the double jumps except the double axel and am very far in skating. You should do it, it's way fun!|||It took my friend in school a year to learn all the basics like spinning, being able to move freely and not fall down, also to do small jumps. It will take a lot of determinate and practice. You'll enjoy it, i love figure skating.|||It takes a lot of time. If you already have good balance and strong legs, the athletic type and dont care about getting hurt and falling down you will pick it up twice as fast.

If you skate evryday 6 months to a year you will really start getting it down and start learning tricks.

Just have fun and push your self to the limit. Its worth all the effort.|||im 13 too omg

iv been scating almost 2 years i can do an axel and some doubles.

im vary good at spins im a realy good spinner i can do scarach-through-beilman inclooding flying camel and sit!!!!!!|||Many people NEVER master the jumps and spins. You are a VERY late starter. I imagine that if you practice every day, take ballet and other dance classes, and strength train daily, it will take you about 2 years.
