How much is a figure skating coach on average?

Well, I want to start figure skating and I was wondering how much a private coach costs on average like per lesson.|||If you are just starting, group lessons are the way to go. It's cheaper, you'll learn in a structured format with others around your age (kids through adult), and you'll get to know different instructors so you can scope out which one could potentially be your private coach. You'll gradually learn how this sport "works" and get the scoop on the various opinions about the coaches at that rink (which may help you greatly with your decision!).

In my area, group classes go by the sessions that last 6-8 weeks. Each lesson comes to about $12-$15 dollars - which usually includes skate rentals (if not, just a couple bucks more . . . with a free public session for that lesson day and perhaps some more public session passes. Check with your rink - different rinks vary. It really is the least expensive way to learn how to skate . . . once you feel you need to move on, you can get a private coach at any time.

Private coach fees vary too. Generally, the higher the rank, the higher the fees. It also depends on how long your lesson would be (15-20-30+ minutes). Where I live, it can be anywhere between $25 to almost $50 (per lesson)!! And it's not just the coach you pay . . . you have to pay for your admission to the rink (whether it's a public session - $6-$8, or later on, a freestyle session $7-$10). If you will be using rental skates, that's another few bucks there.

If you do want to get private coach off the bat, you can go to the skating office for recommendations. Then you can talk these coaches and do sort of an interview to see which one best suits you.

Hope that helps - happy skating!|||about 30 dollars depending on the coach you have|||Probably about $40, depending on how good the coach is and how high the demand is for him/her.|||Private coaches set their own rates based on the experience that they have, but on average I'd say that it's about $10-$15 for a 15 minute lesson, and then you also have to pay for the freestyle session which is usually an hour of skating time for $5-$10 depending on the rink. Group lessons are a really great way to start skating because they are less expensive than private lessons and are a great way to get to learn skating skills. Group lessons are usually a three week session, skating twice a week, for 25 minutes. These cost about $30-$40 per session.|||If you are just starting, start with group lessons and those will run about $10 a session for about ten sessions. You will have to register for class and pay up front generally but you can also "walk on" at some rinks and just pay for the classes you will be able to attend.

And then I agree with the other two answers of about $30 to $40 depending on where you are and what level your coach is used to teaching.

Ask around you rink and remember that a coach that is right for you is more worth while than one that saves you a couple of bucks or has more status to them.

Good luck!
