What are the athletic aspects of figure skating?

Does anyone know the athletic aspects of figure skating?

Like what you need to have in order to be one and a successful skater?

And what you get out of it?|||You need to be athletic and in top shape. It's a performance as well as an athletic competition, performing at a top level is very satisfying to an ice skater, a lot of work goes into it to be your very best. It's exhilarating to perform at high level in anything.|||Figure skating is a highly demanding sport/art and requires many of the features required by other athletes:

Stamina/endurance is important as the more stamina a skater has, the longer they can practice without having to take a break. Also, at higher levels of skating, the skating programs get longer and involve far more difficult elements and without endurance, a skater will struggle to last the program, never mind land the high level jumps near the end.

Flexibility is also an important aspect, especially for women(although men also need and do take advantage of flexibility. Flexibility is required in spirals and spiral sequences when the leg needs to be raised very high, and in many different spins where flexibility is vital to holding a position (Biellman position especially)

Strength. Core strength is one of the most important things to a skate, it is what controls a skaters body and the better a skater's core strength the better they become at jump and presentation/choreography. Also, one can't have a high leg in their spiral without strong back muscles. Obviously, pairs figure skaters need a lot of strength to hold themselves in extremely difficult and dynamic positions and to lift and hold themselves in the lift.

Additionally, being a dancer or somebody with a good sense of rhythm is always a bonus when it comes to choreography.

Finally, being passionate about one's sport is important to any athlete, and as this is the case, when an athlete's hard work pays off, it is exhilarating. They often don't commit their lives to something to be unrecognized or unsuccessful.

Hope this answers your question well!
