How to change a coach in figure skating?

My daughter trains in figure skating, and she is looking to change to another coach in the same training centre she trains at. She is not happy with her coach and would like to switch to another one. But the problem is we don't want to hurt or make any fuss and are looking to hear any ideas of how to make it correctly and easily , if possible at all...

We would not want to make any accusations or pointing fingers towards the coach, we are looking for the nice way...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.|||I am a coach so have been on both the ends of gaining and losing skaters.

You should talk to your daughters coahc and just explain you appreciate everything she has done, but things just do not seem to be working. Tell her who you plan to switch to. Talk to the new coach and make sure they know what you are looking for in a new coach to be sure it is a good match.

Don't lie, even a little lie, as someone else mentioned. Just be honest. Her current coach may be a little upset, but she will get over it. All coaches just want what is best for the skater.

Hope that helps!|||I am also a figure skater, and i had the same exact problem as you with my previous coach. I also did not want to hurt her feelings even though i was switching to a coach in the same club. So i decided to tell my previous coach that the times she had been offering me were interfering with previous planned activities such as school, ballet, family events, etc. this way i was sure not to hurt her feelings, and if she asked why i switched to a coach in the same club i could simply tell her she had more openings that did not conflict with my schedule as much. By telling her this she was not upset in any way, for we still frequently talk and she even often compliments my skating!

I hope i helped and good luck!|||Be tactful and tell the coach the truth

Thank the coach for what they have done so far, but you/and your skater feel it's time for change

It's ethical to talk to both coaches( tell the previous no more lessons and the new one that you have switched)

Coaches should understand that skaters have different needs as they progress
