xxxxxx|||i'm a part time figure skater and dancing helps skating alot. if you did dancing first don't give it up|||I would suggest seeing if you can handle both skating and dancing if it is that important to you. If necessary you can stick with the one that you enjoy the most, and quit the other. Good luck!|||Try taking a few lessons at an ice skating place near you. I am a skater and it does take up time if you become competitive but if your just trying it out you don't need to worry.|||Give it a go %26amp; if you like it you'll find the time, you can also take it at your pace so you can fit the dancing in as well enjoy and have fun|||Skating and dance both take a lot of time and dedication, but you don't have to be a super commited skater to still pick up a few skills and enjoy it. Not all skating has to be for competition level. You can skate just for the fun of skating and personal enjoyment. Take some group lessons, learn the basics, see if you like it. Practice a little when you have time. Not all people who skate are die-hard skaters. Many do it just to be able to skate or just for fun. They don't want to do competitions, shows or tests. They have their group lesson, practice for a little bit after their lesson and that's it for the week. Should you decide that you want to do competitions and do more than pretty much recreational skating, that would require more of a time investment. You'll probably find that your dance experience will help your skating and vice versa. A lot of skaters also do off-ice training, which usually includes dance (ballet). It is possible to do both, it just depends on what your goals are. Good luck!|||Figure skating seriously will take up a lot of time but you can start once a week lessons before you stick with it all the way. Many people just skate for fun in an ISI program. Dancing will actually help your flexibility, balance and agility on the ice.|||Figure skating does take a lot of time. My daughter did it for 3 years and there were obvious difference between the ones who came and practiced on their own time more frequently. If you can't be dedicated, you may consider telling your cousin that skating isn't your thing... it's hers. Tell her you will come skate with her but you like dancing and that's what you will be doing. And also, if you fall on the ice, hances are high that you won't be able to skate for a time... and more importantly you can't dance either. Be who you want to be!!! :)|||well when you first start you only get like 1 lesson a week so that won't interfere too much. when you get to the higher levels it'll get a little harder to balance in between. remember though that most skaters take ballet /dance lessons to help them with their skating. when/if you want to go to the higher levels just schedule your skating practices to a different time or day than your dance lessons!!

good luck!!!

p.s. i hope you do try figure skating, i started two years ago and i love it soooo much im sure you will too!!!|||It never hurts to try something. If you dont have the time then at least you can say you tried
