Who do you think is the Bela Karolyi of figure skating?

In gymnastics, Bela Karolyi is the world's recognizable coach in that sport. Who is the "Bela Karolyi" of figure skating then?|||Gustave Lussi, who passed away years ago. Lussi, a former ski jumper, was incredibly successful as a coach. Many of his skaters have gone on to become high-level coaches themselves.

Among today's coaches, I would select Frank Carroll, even though he's never had student win an Olympic Gold Medal. Carroll is very much in demand as a coach and speaker.

Let's hope Evan Lysacek brings Frank Carroll the gold medal recognition he so deserves.

The coach of the future is Tom Zakrajsek, 2009 PSA Coach of the Year. Tom's brought innovative coaching techniques, helped build a strong development program in Colorado Springs, CO and strategized how his skater can get the most IJS points in competitions. He really understands the IJS system and how to work it to your advantage - backloading jumps to get the 10% BONUS, an edge or position that increased the level of difficult in a spin, plus how to get the skater "off the judging bubble" with footwork to achieve higher scores. Very impressive and knowledgeable coach.
