Figure Skating !?

I have been fgigure skating for a few months now, and really really love it. I honestly can not tell you how much! The thing is i really really want to get really good and more confident on the ice. I can do most the basics and can do a salchow, spins, some basic jumps and i am working on a sit-spin. Does anyone have any ideas of how i can get better quickly and get more confident. I know practice is a key thing and i do as often as i can, but its expensive and i don't always have the time! :[. Please help! Thanks x|||wow, only a few months and your already working on a sitspin! good job... as far as getting better.

do stretches for spirals and the beillman spin position, also sometimes known as a chinese spiral. practice your jumps off ice. If your rink has a stroking class, maybe try that. They,re generally not too expensive. Write a list of things to practice during your freeskating time, so you can cram in as much skating as you can and not have to think about what to practice.

Have fun skating!!!!!!!!!!!!!|||well, you can certainly try off ice. for confidence, it just takes time. i used to be very scared but now, i'm not. it's just a matter of courage and charging toward the top|||I agree with everybody-off ice is a great way to go. Pro figure skaters do so much off ice training, that the time spent doing that is equal or maybe even longer than the actual on ice practice! I was shocked when I found out.

Conditioning is important too. If you're off ice for too long, obviously your body won't be used to it if you get back on too suddenly. Regular excersise, like running, swimming and rope jumping all really helps. For example, a few seasons ago, I actually joined the track team. The year before, I did a LOT of skating training, so it was a welcome change of pace. But after running track competitions for 3 months, my figure skating itself actually got better after the season was over. Other people I know have also had that happen to them before, so I know it's not just me.

Hope that helps! Work hard, and condition well! :)|||Off Ice training, Gym accsess, practicing jump revolutions and flexibility. annnd, roller blading/inline skating.|||Consistency in your practice is key to getting a skill perfected.

If you are not already in lessons or with a private coach, you may want to consider that if you really want to improve. A skater can only do so well by her or himself...a coach is a great asset to improvement.|||I would suggest off ice training, and learning to be patient with yourself. It sounds like you are moving along at a fairly decent pace, and you just have to be patient so that you can learn and become better at figure skating. Off ice training can help you practice your jumps off of the ice, and strengthen your body so that you are able to have the muscles to jump when you begin larger jumps. Good luck!|||ur right, practice is really important....sit spin...

remember that ur ankle leads the spin and stay low, dont go down to fast. off ice wall sits also help.
